The elevator or lift is a unique object in The Sims 2 that is used for transportation between floors of the hotel. It links together four of the five main floors of the hotel; the Main Lobby on the first/ground floor, the 2nd Floor Lobby, the Penthouse and the Sun Deck. The Basement is not connected to the elevator system, as stairs are used to access it instead.
